Can Rock Dust help cut down on carbon emissions?

US startup Lithos Carbon has raised $57.1 million in funding from investors including Alphabet and Stripe. The startup plans to use the funds to soak up 154,000 tons of carbon dioxide by 2028, by sprinkling basalt dust on tens of thousands of acres of farmland. It claims to be able to remove carbon at a rate of approximately half a billion tons per year.
