VW will invest $5 billion in Rivian
US-based electric vehicle startup Rivian has reportedly plans to launch three new electric vehicles, three of which would be priced below 10 lakh. The three cars would reportedly be built on an electrical architecture called ‘MSP’, which stands for’mid sized platform’. Rivian had announced a $5-billion deal with Volkswagen in March to develop software and electric vehicles.

Motorola has launched a new version of its Razr smartphone. The Razr 50 and 50 Ultra come with a new hinge that Motorola claims will offer better dust resistance. The Razr 50 Ultra will be available in pink, grey, or blue and comes with an AI-based system which can run on a cover screen to respond to users’ commands.
Microsoft has been charged with EU antitrust violations
The European Commission has said that it’s “preliminary view” that Microsoft has breached EU antitrust rules with its tie-up of teams with its productivity applications in Office 365 and Windows 365. It could potentially face a fine of 10% of Microsoft’s annual worldwide turnover if it is found guilty of antitrust violations. If found guilty, the firm could face a fine of up to 6 billion.
US Record Labels are accusing Suno and Udio of violating Copyright Act
Suno CEO Mikey Shulman said that the AI-powered music streaming platform’s technology is “transformative and designed to generate completely new outputs, not to memorize and memorise previous content”. Shulman added that Suno doesn’t allow user prompts based on specific artists. Earlier this month, Sony Music had sent letters to tech companies warning them of “unauthorized” use of copyrighted work.
Putin is attempting to shore up Russia’s ties in Asia
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said the two countries share an interest in developing a reliable security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region with no room for closed military-political blocs. Following his meeting with Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang in Hanoi, Putin said the two countries have a relationship dating back to the early 20th century.

US-based luxury automaker Fisker Group CEO Henrik Fisker has said it was “unfair” to judge his company’s founder and former CEO David Blixt after he filed for bankruptcy last year. He added, “I wasn’t at the forefront of anything…I didn’t want to be judged.” Fisker had filed for bankruptcy in July 2018, saying it was facing a cash crunch.

Apple has announced a new feature called ‘Genmoji’ that will allow users to have their own reactions created by Artificial Intelligence (AI) if they don’t like one. The ‘Genmoji’ feature can work in several apps, Apple said, but also has its own app by the same name. It added the feature will be available on the iPhone, iPad and Mac later this year.

Apple unveiled its new AI-based chat feature at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWC) 2018 that allows users to shake their head if they want to respond to Siri’s announcements. The feature was first announced by Microsoft and is currently available in Windows 10. Apple’s Smart Script feature will use machine learning to improve the appearance of users’ handwriting and spell check their notes.

Apple will reportedly introduce a new version of Siri at its WWDC 2024 keynote. It’s going to unveil a huge overhaul for the assistant, making Siri more reliable thanks to large language models but without much new functionality, The New York Times said. Apple is likely to rebrand Siri as ‘Apple Intelligence’ and build it in throughout its apps, it added.
The default is for Microsoft to switch off recall after a security backlash
Google’s Project Zero researcher James Forshaw discovered a method for accessing Recall data without administrator privileges, which cybersecurity strategist and ethical hacker Alex Hagenah called “mindblowing”. Hagenah had recently built a Proof-of-Concept tool to show that someone who gained access to a victim’s machine with Recall could immediately siphon out all their history recorded by the feature.
