Microsoft CEO Brad Smith has said his company can meet “the needs of countries and customers around the world with the use of technology that was compliant with the rule” under the new restrictions. The US has restricted the use of advanced AI models within the borders of the US and its partner economies, including Iran, North Korea and China.

Microsoft also plans to harden its infrastructure to protect against encryption keys falling into the wrong hands.
