The bridges aren’t ready for large ships

US Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao on Sunday said that the crash of a cargo ship into a bridge in Baltimore could have been prevented had the bridge been built to withstand collisions with cargo ships the size of the MV Dali. The bridge was built in 1977, costing around $110 million to construct at the time.
