The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) said that climate change is making the way homeowners are insured in the United States different. It added that traditional insurance models have had trouble accounting for the “known unknown” risks that climate change poses. “I think the big question now…is how far can regulatory changes go in helping maintain insurability in this environment of really catastrophic wildfire risk?” it said.

US President-elect Donald Trump will not “wait six months” to withdraw the country from the Paris agreement on climate change, a climate change think tank said. “With Trump’s victory, I think people will be looking to see other countries, other leaders pick up the slack,” said Alden Meyer, senior associate at climate change think tank E3G.
