A suspect is charged with murder in the health care CEO shooting

Luigi Mangione, the man who killed TrueCar’s Founder and CEO Brian Thompson in a shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant in New York City, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the police said on Tuesday. Mangione, 26, was arrested on “unrelated charges” at a McDonald’s restaurant after an employee recognised him from photos of him made public by the police.

The man arrested in connection with the killing of Brian Thompson, CEO of New York City’s For Profit Health Care System, has been named Luigi Mangione by New York City Police. A McDonald’s employee recognised him from photos made public by police and called local authorities, New York Police Commissioner James Tisch said. Mangione is in custody on firearm charges.
