Google-owned artificial intelligence startup OpenAI’s Co-founder Sam Altman told its employees that it plans to launch its first product with ex- Apple CEO Jony Ive’s design studio, LoveFrom, later this year. Altman added the product will be a portable speaker and it’ll be able to sit on a desk or be carried around. Ive is leaving Apple after over 15 years to set up OpenAI.

New York Daily News and Chicago Tribune are suing OpenAI and Microsoft

The Chicago Tribune, which is owned by Alden Global Capital, has filed a lawsuit against AI firm OpenAI and Microsoft’s artificial intelligence (AI) platform ChatGPT, accusing it of reproducing news articles without permission. The lawsuit alleged that ChatGPT at times falsely attributes reporting to newspapers in the answers it generates, tarnishing the reputation of the news outlets.

An internal investigation by WilmerHale found that former OpenAI CEO Drew Altman was fired from the startup after it became clear “there was a significant risk of litigation against the company”, OpenAI said in a blogpost. Altman was fired last fall after he made inappropriate comments about a board member’s business. He was cleared by an investigation by WilmerHale.

OpenAI announced a new bundle for its Gemini chatbot and GTT store, which will be available to Google users. Artificial intelligence startup OpenAI’s Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever said, “If you believe, like we do, that if we succeed really well, then GPUs are going to take my job and your job and everyone’s jobs, it seems nice if that company would not make truly unlimited amounts of returns.” He added the only company in the world with a capped profit structure is OpenAI.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will be joining its research team as an advanced AI lead. The new team will be headed by Greg Brockman, the former head of Microsoft Research, and will be led by Altman and Emmett Shear, OpenAI’s Vice President of Corporate Affairs. Earlier this month, Elon Musk also announced his decision to exit OpenAI.
