The White House said Amazon’s plans to share prices of its goods with newspapers is a “hostile and political act” by the online retail giant. It added that it will look into the issue and “take appropriate action”. Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has said he will protect his newspaper Washington Post from being threatened while it pursues its free market crusade.
The ‘Washington Post’ won’t support a presidential candidate
The Washington Post’s former Editor David Hoffman has announced he is quitting the newspaper’s editorial board, days after Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos refused to endorse Democratic US presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Hoffman wrote, “For decades, the Washington Post’s editorials have been… beacon of light, signaling hope to dissidents, political prisoners and…voiceless.” He added, “I was never part of any conspiracy. I’m sorry.”
