Why America shouldn’t give up on Venezuela

Venezuela’s President Nicols Maduro has renounced his promise to run for office and will not allow opposition leader Maria Corina Machado to contest the upcoming presidential election. The government has barred Machado from holding public office for 15 years due to corruption and other alleged wrongdoing. The July 28 election is shaping up to be “the most undemocratic election since Venezuela became a democracy in 1958”, an elections expert said.
