“It is sooooooooooo late, but I am going to take it seriously,” tweeted Musk on the Trump-President’s “Disgusting Abhormination”
Trump said he thought that Musk missed being part of the action at the White House, and said he was similar to other former staffers who leave to become critics.
He said Musk “knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody” and “never had a problem until right after he left.” On X, Musk quickly countered, claiming “this bill was never shown to me even once.”
Musk, who for months led the Trump administration’s government-slashing unit until he left the role last week, has been actively attacking the megabill for days, calling it “pork-filled” and a “disgusting abomination.”
“In the entire history of civilization, there has never been legislation that both big and beautiful,” Musk posted Thursday. Everyone knows this! A slim and beautiful bill or a big and ugly bill are what you’ll get. Slim and beautiful is the way.”

They leave and they wake up and the glamor is gone. The whole world has changed, and I don’t know what it is.
May is over, but it seems the meltdowns are just beginning. Right now, we’re watching two men with leverage over each other fight with vague threats and public information. The stakes in that fight could not be higher.
A member of Musks coterie of baby mamas has chosen to speak out on their behalf. On X, Musk’s fiancée wrote, “Hey Donald Trump, if you need any breakup advice.”
Meanwhile, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee are attempting to subpoena Musk. Nancy Mace (R-SC) suspended the hearing to give Republicans time to arrive and vote against the subpoena. Should Trump demand it, it’s easy to imagine another vote happening — one that hauls Musk in front of Congress.
It has been at least a year now since the two of them were thick as thieves. The current beef has a lot of public information. Musk claimed that the files weren’t released due to a friendship between Trump and Epstein, but it’s new. I wonder how much dirt they have on each other, and how much destruction that information will cause.
Musk could decide not to after this contretemps because he hasn’t sent that $100 million check. He also has enough money to fund primary challenges all over the country, as well as engage in aggressive lobbying against the bill — or any future pet Trump project. Some military satellites could be stranded if there are canceled contracts with the company.
In the light of the President’s statement about cancellation of my government contracts, Musk posted “SpaceX will begin its decommissioning of Dragon spacecraft immediately.” The SpaceX Dragon is used to fly cargo and crew to the International Space Station.

I would question the use of “went” in that sentence but sure. That’s a pretty actionable threat. Who is keeping track at this point? It probably wouldn’t make much difference, but what’s left of NASA is pretty significant.
Both of these guys are known for commanding attention, so this is a battle playing out on social media. It is also deeply petty. But a government contractor, one whose business empire is extremely dependent on federal contracts, posting about the deficit is serving up a nice volley. Trump spiked it.
Musk also unfollowed Stephen Miller on X, as well as the pundit Charlie Kirk. He retweeted old clips of himself saying that the federal deficit needed to come down, and put up a poll: “Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?” The polls is pinned to Musk’s profile. “Yes” is in the lead with 83 percent of the votes.
Donald Trump and Elon Musk, two of the most media-addled personalities of our time, are publicly torching their relationship by posting on the public social media networks they each respectively own. I have seen theories, but I can not remember if this is kayfabe or not. Trump and Musk have publicly shit-talked people, including each other, before turning around and working with them. This is true; threats are being made. I’m just not sure how serious it is.
