Worldcoin, a human identity network that uses iris-scanning technology, has changed its name to World Network. A spokesperson said all event attendees can have their Iris scanned today, and 500 attendees will receive a new Orb when it ships in 2025. The project’s Co-founder and CEO Sam Altman announced that they are changing the name of the project to World Network.

Billionaires Elon Musk and Nelson Peltz, who have donated over $45 million to Republican presidential nominee Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ campaign, are the 12th richest people in the US. Musk has contributed $46 million to the pro-Trump Preserve America PAC, making him the most generous among Trump’s donors. Peltz has donated $12.3 million to the Trump 47 political action committee.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has urged consumers to check their fridges and freezers after 11 million pounds of ready-to-eat meats and poultry were recalled as a precaution due to the threat of listeria. The tainted products have been distributed to schools, and the government will post a school distribution list on its website once one is available.
The nuclear deal was signed by the internet giant
Amazon has announced three new deals with US-based startup X-energy to buy electricity from the startup’s small modular reactors (SMRs), which can be a fraction of the size of a traditional nuclear power plant. The company will use the funds to support “the completion of X-energy’s reactor design and licensing” and development of a fuel fabrication facility.
Walgreens hopes to have a turn around with the closing of 1,200 stores
US drugstore chain Walgreens has said it plans to close 1,200 stores over the next three years. “What can we learn from the past? I’m very confident that we’ll…have a revised framework for reimbursement discussions within the next two to three years,” Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth said. The company had reported a $3-billion net loss in the April-June quarter.

Microsoft is planning to support streaming of Xbox game libraries next month, the company’s president Sarah Bond has said. The platform will allow users to play and purchase Xbox games directly from the Xbox App on Android. Microsoft is also planning to test the capability to stream games that are not part of the existing Xbox Game Pass library.

He added that he believes Tesla’s software can drive a vehicle without human help much of the time, but it’s not reliable enough to drive unassisted all of the time. Musk further said that he believes demand for Tesla’s self-sufficient software will go up when it is fully self-sufficient.

Epic Games, the company behind Epic Games Store that has been accused of violating Google’s anti-trust provisions, said it has now reached 10 million installs on Samsung’s phones against a target of 100 million by the end of the year. Epic Games Store claims it now requires “an exceptionally onerous 21-step process” to download a third-party app store onto a Samsung phone.
The Three mile Island nuclear plant is going to power Microsoft’s data centers
Microsoft has signed a deal with Constellation Energy to buy nuclear power for data centre operations in the US. The agreement will allow Microsoft to run its data centers on “clean, carbon-free energy”. The company’s data centres, which are used for cloud computing and artificial intelligence programs, will be able to run again after the restart of the Three Mile Island power plant.
