Anthropic, Apple, and other companies used videos to train their employees
A dataset containing over 170,000 YouTube videos was used to train AI systems for over 50 technology companies, according to an investigation by Proof News. The training dataset is a collection of subtitles taken from YouTube videos belonging to over 48,000 channels. Some of the videos found by Proof News were taken by MrBeast, Jacksepticeye and PewDiePie.

The European Commission has fined SpaceX up to 6% of its annual global turnover for failing to comply with transparency obligations. It accused the startup of not complying with regulations on advertising and giving data to researchers. Nearly all the cell customers of AT&T had their call and text data stolen
AT&T has revealed that a data breach had exposed call records and texts from its cellular customer’s networks from May 1, 2022 to November 15, 2023. The data does not include Social Security numbers, dates of birth or other personally identifiable information. The company said it would notify impacted customers by text, email or US mail.
The EU rules that blue checkmarks are deceptive
The European Union (EU) on Friday said that Elon Musk-led X Platform has failed to comply with the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) by allowing accounts to pay for a verification of their identities. The EU said it was concerned about the “negative impact” of the blue tick system on users’ ability to make informed decisions about the authenticity of accounts.

Boeing failed to implement safety changes after the two overseas MAX crashes, according to US Department of Justice court filings. Boeing had earlier agreed to make safety changes after the crashes in which over 300 people were killed. The agreement was broken in May after Boeing failed to implement a compliance and ethics program.
Biden administration wants to protect workers from heat
The US government has proposed a heat index of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, which takes into account both heat and humidity, for employers to provide rest breaks. It would also require employers to provide a 15-minute paid rest break every two hours. The rule is an important step in the process to receive public input to craft a “win-win” final rule, an official said.
VW will invest $5 billion in Rivian
US-based electric vehicle startup Rivian has reportedly plans to launch three new electric vehicles, three of which would be priced below 10 lakh. The three cars would reportedly be built on an electrical architecture called ‘MSP’, which stands for’mid sized platform’. Rivian had announced a $5-billion deal with Volkswagen in March to develop software and electric vehicles.
