Billionaires Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz have said US Vice President Joe Biden’s proposed 25% tax on unrealized capital gains of household worth over $100 million was the “final straw” in their support of Donald Trump. They added that Biden’s budget proposal, which affects only citizens worth over $100 million, is “alarmist”. They said the tax would destroy America.
Biden is attempting to buy time with new tariffs on China
US President Joe Biden has said that his administration’s new tariffs will “save American jobs and save American families $1,500 a year”. The tariffs are linked with subsidy for domestic manufacturing of technologies that have been denounced by US President Donald Trump. Trump had made tariffs on China one of his signature policy moves when he was in the White House.

The auto strike threatens a supply chain already weakened by Covid
The United Auto Workers (UAW) has gone on strike at all three US-based automakers, Ford, Nissan and General Motors, over contract negotiations. UAW President Shawn Fain said the union is looking for more than a 40% increase in the wages and benefits it would receive. The strike comes as US President Donald Trump’s administration plans to impose tariffs on all foreign automakers.
