Elon Musk spoke up about the recent attempt against 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump: The case of Biden, Trump and the “racially” hateful person on X

Shortly following reports of an apparent second assassination attempt against former US president and 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, Elon Musk decided to speak up.

The interview was one that focused on his sons’ new initiative and led to many of Trump’s typical campaign trail talking points.

He said that the Secret Service did a great job in protecting him while he played golf in West Palm Beach, Fla. He said he was taken away in a golf cart after hearing gunshots.

In June, Trump recalled an assassination attempt against him. He said the attempt on Sunday was a “much better result” because there was no loss of life, as there was in June, when one man died and two others were injured, apart from Trump who suffered a wound on his ear.

He recalled that Biden asked whether Trump needed more people on his detail, and that he was very nice on the call.

This comes after Trump blamed the “rhetoric” of Biden and Harris for the apparent attempt on his life in an interview with Fox News. He called Harris a hateful person on X.

At Monday night’s Georgia Victory dinner, his running mate, Ohio Sen., repeated that phrase a second time.

Musk’s role as a major contractor for the US Department of Defense and NASA makes him more Misery than before. According to Reuters, SpaceX signed a $1.8 billion contract in 2021 with the National Reconnaissance Office, which oversees US spy satellites. The $70 million contract signed last year by the US Space Force with SpaceX is for military-grade low-earth-orbit satellite capabilities. Starlink, SpaceX’s commercial satellite internet wing, is providing connectivity to the US Navy.

The FBI could also launch an investigation, as noted by German. However, it’s unlikely that Musk would face any charges for his post. “On its face, it wouldn’t meet the true threat test because it was not a threat to harm the vice president, so it wouldn’t likely proceed to prosecution,” German says. It would create a record of the investigations.

Michael German, a liberty and national security fellow at NYU School of Law’s Brennan Center for Justice, said the Secret Service would take such a comment very seriously. To make the subject aware that the agency takes such statements seriously, agents would often interview the subject to ensure there wasn’t an existing threat.

The United States Secret Service refused to comment on the post. “We can say, however, that the Secret Service investigates all threats related to our protectees,” USSS spokesperson Nate Herring tells WIRED.
