Is the Nintendo Switch 2 the cheapest of all the new consoles? An update from the Nintendo Direct and an analysis of preorders for the Switch 2
The console is more expensive than the first one. That device launched more than eight years ago, after all. After yesterday’s big Nintendo Direct, there has been a lot of sticker shock, as people have seen just how much Nintendo is charging for the console and its games. Based on hands-on reports from my colleagues, the Switch 2 seems like another excellent device, with upgrades like an improved Nvidia processor and a bigger screen with support for HDR and 120fps framerates. Nintendo is pushing back preorders for the Switch 2 due to concerns about Donald Trump’s newly announced tariffs. The statement says that the preorders won’t begin on April 9th.
