The Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set and All-In-One Carrying Case for the Nintendo Switch 2: Upgrade vs. Standalone
Several Switch 2 accessories have had slight price bumps because of President Trump’s on-again, off-again tariffs. We can only guess as to whether we will see more price hikes down the line, so now might be the ideal time to get a second controller or accessory for the Switch 2.
The small, curveless Joy-Cons can be cramped if you have larger hands, but they are great for portable and wireless play. If you game mostly in TV mode you might want to look at the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller. The upgraded version of one of our favorite Nintendo Switch controller features a few welcome improvements, including a pair of rear GL and GR buttons players can use to remap other controls. Nintendo has also finally added a 3.5mm audio jack, allowing you to pair it with a headset or a set of wired headphones. The gamepad even features the aforementioned “C” button.
If you’re going to get the new Mario Kart World, then you need to consider the Joy-Con 2 Wheels. Simply snap the Joy-Con 2 controllers onto the steering wheel attachment and you’re good to go. The two-wheel set is currently available for preorder starting at $24.88 from Walmart, Best Buy, and Target.
Nintendo is also launching an All-In-One Carrying Case on June 5th, which is more spacious than the model mentioned above. The higher-end case features separate compartments for stowing the console and various goodies, including the Switch 2 dock, Joy-Con 2 controllers, cables, and up to six game cards. You can get it from Walmart, Target, and Best Buy.

I was no more than 15 minutes away when I saw that my local store on Howe Road was open. I packed my wallet and dog and went to the store, only to be greeted by a lot of people who had been waiting for days.
One employee of the company told me that it has been busy. He said that he discouraged people from camping for multiple days overnight because he was unhappy with how long it would take. He said that they had six waiting yesterday.
Other than that small number of campers, most people I spoke to who were waiting in line had only arrived a few hours before the store opened. A lot of people owned a regular Switch and were excited about the improved console.
“I have to upgrade, there’s no other way around it,” said another Switch 2 hopeful. Everyone I spoke to was enthusiastic about the console and when I brought up its price they still didn’t seem phased.
“That doesn’t bother me, I got more than enough money,” said one man. Others mentioned the state of the US economy and with inflation impacting consumer goods across the board, the price of the Switch 2 itself seemed reasonable. One man said the switch cost $350 when it was launched. “One hundred dollars more, almost 10 years later, not that bad.”
That was the opinion of a vast majority of people I spoke to. Nintendo’s pricing makes sense given everything going on with inflation and tariffs, and even if the higher prices do sting, it’s Nintendo. “I think it’s worth it,” a mother told me as she was waiting in line with her son and husband.
With Bu strapped ever so patiently to my back, I preordered a Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle and threw an extra five bucks down on Donkey Kong Bananza. This worked out well, I don’t see why it shouldn’t, the old ways work best.
