US drugstore chain Walgreens has said it plans to close 1,200 stores over the next three years. “What can we learn from the past? I’m very confident that we’ll…have a revised framework for reimbursement discussions within the next two to three years,” Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth said. The company had reported a $3-billion net loss in the April-June quarter.

The platform will allow users to play and purchase Xbox games directly from the Xbox App on Android. Epic Games Store claims it now requires “an exceptionally onerous 21-step process” to download a third-party app store onto a Samsung phone.
The Three mile Island nuclear plant is going to power Microsoft’s data centers
Microsoft has signed a deal with Constellation Energy to buy nuclear power for data centre operations in the US. The agreement will allow Microsoft to run its data centers on “clean, carbon-free energy”. The company’s data centres, which are used for cloud computing and artificial intelligence programs, will be able to run again after the restart of the Three Mile Island power plant.

Companies that invest heavily in responsible AI research are likely to have a “race to the bottom” in generative AI, according to a study published in the Nature. The study found that large AI companies didn’t have incentives to apply it as they wanted open access for their models. It analysed papers presented at a variety of AI conferences between 1995 and 2020.

Microsoft’s new playground is called Copilot Pages
Microsoft announced a new feature, ‘prioritize my inbox’, to help Copilot users prioritise emails. It added that it will be available in Outlook later this month and later this month in Word. Users will also be able to teach Copilot the specific topics and people that are important to them later this year, Microsoft said.
